Our Story
HerGrowth Holdings was founded on a simple observation: women-led businesses are consistently underfunded despite outperforming their peers.
Women receive less than 3% of venture capital funding, yet businesses founded by women deliver 2x the revenue per dollar invested. This isn't just an inequality — it's an enormous market inefficiency.
Our founder, Amara Johnson, spent 15 years in private equity watching talented women founders get passed over by traditional capital sources. She started HerGrowth to fix that — building a holding company that acquires, invests in, and provides operational support to women-led businesses with proven models and ambitious growth plans.
Today, HerGrowth Holdings is actively building a diversified portfolio of exceptional companies across industries including e-commerce, SaaS, healthcare, professional services, and consumer brands.

Amara Johnson
Founder & CEO
Amara spent 15 years in private equity at firms including KKR and Bain Capital, where she led investments in consumer, healthcare, and technology companies totaling over $500M in transaction value.
She founded HerGrowth Holdings after seeing firsthand how systematically women founders were overlooked by traditional capital sources — despite consistently strong performance metrics. She holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA from Spelman College.
Rachel Patel
Chief Investment Officer
Rachel brings deep expertise in deal sourcing, due diligence, and portfolio management from her years at Goldman Sachs and Bain Capital. She has evaluated over 1,000 potential investments and closed 40+ deals.
At HerGrowth, Rachel leads our investment process from initial screening through closing, ensuring every acquisition meets our rigorous financial and strategic criteria. She holds a CFA charter and an MBA from Wharton.
Sarah Williams
Chief Operating Officer
Sarah is an operations leader who has built and scaled systems for over 20 companies across multiple industries. She previously served as COO at two venture-backed startups, leading both through 10x revenue growth.
At HerGrowth, Sarah works directly with portfolio company leadership to implement operational improvements, build scalable infrastructure, and recruit key talent. She holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Tech.
